Sutton Valence 2s travelled to league high flyers Gravesham & Wellcome knowing they would be in for a tough game. Sutton Valence started well, with patient passing allowing them to dictate much of the play in the early stages. Sutton Valence then became the architects of their own demise as the aforementioned passing became their undoing. Some loose balls on the edge of the D meant that suddenly Sutton Valence had conceded three in quick succession with the Gravesham attackers ruthless in front of goal.
Despite this Sutton Valence still felt that on balance they were playing well and were still in the game. With players all over the park working hard in both attack and defence and some good saves from goalkeeper Ross Mackay Sutton Valence managed to fight their way back into the game and get a goal back, finishing the rebound after an initial save from the Gravesham keeper.
Sutton Valence continued to work hard to a man but were unfortunate to concede another three, one of which painfully trickled over the line after looping over a prone Mackay after making the initial save.
A frustrated Sutton Valence worked until the end and justifiably felt that the final 6-1 scoreline did not reflect the level of performance they had given for the majority of the match.
