Sutton Valence 1st XI delivered a commanding performance on home turf, securing a decisive 7–2 victory over Old Wills. With their strongest squad of the season available, Sutton Valence showcased their attacking prowess and defensive solidity against spirited opposition.
The match began with Sutton Valence on the front foot. Fred McVarish opened the scoring just five minutes in, smashing a backhand strike into the bottom corner after clever play from Lewis Mitchell down the right flank. McVarish doubled his tally 12 minutes later, his deflected backhand from the byline leaving Old Wills' goalkeeper stranded. Just three minutes after the restart, Ali Carter restored the two-goal cushion with a crisp backhand finish following excellent work by Henry Robinson in midfield. Alex Stamp then took center stage, converting two short corners in quick succession with pinpoint strikes. The fifth goal was a team masterpiece: Carter and Mitchell combined brilliantly with McVarish, whose deft pass found Andy Turnill for a clinical finish.
Old Wills managed a consolation via a penalty flick late on, but McVarish completed his hat-trick moments later with another stunning backhand to seal the win.
Defensively, Dan Brooks was unyielding, while Chris Back marshalled the backline with authority. Goalkeeper Mark Whitmill was composed, making key saves when called upon. Substitutes Dickie Turnill and Russell Blanchard brought energy and composure when introduced.
