Sutton Valance Come from Behind to Win

Sutton Valence come from behind in massive 6-pointer*

Sutton Valence went into the match one place above their opponents, both languishing at the bottom, knowing a victory was essential if they had aspirations to stay in the league.

The game started with both teams getting on the ball and both teams making sloppy passes, looking like no hockey had been played for a number of weeks.

Wells got the first breakthrough, with a well struck volley. Sutton Valence soon struck back with a short corner strike from Sheldon, through the keepers legs. Despite Sutton Valence playing well, they were caught with two further goals to go in 3-1 down at half time.

A game of two halves. Sutton Valence went into the 2nd half positive and on the ascendancy. Another short corner, and another goal. Sheldon slipped to Stile, who finished for 3-2. Another Sheldon goal from open play, 3-3.

Willson had an opportunity to put Sutton Valence ahead, with a flick awarded after Stile was wiped out. Flick rebounded off the inside of the post.

Not long to wait for the 4th and winner. Keeper made a good save, with the rebound dropping to Willson to smash the ball into the top of the goal, off the crossbar. Only one meaningful opportunity from Wells in the 2nd half, resulting in a top clearance from Mackay.

Everyone played exceptionally well, a thoroughly deserved team result.
