On a sweltering day, the match kicked off, we knew we’d be on our toes with a win needed for promotion.
In the first minute, a bouncing pass from the left back found Henry leading to BBHC seizing the moment and earning a penalty corner, which BBHC scored with a drag flick that silenced the crowd and left our team in disbelief. However, we dusted ourselves off, kept calm, and carried on.
Staying true to the SVHC, we kept high pressing on the centre back led to a poor pass and another penalty flick! Ali Carter stepped up to convert our fourth penalty flick. With SVHC equalizing, the game was back on track, and momentum began to build as we created quick counterattacking moves.
The captain scoring the second goal from a yard out. After more penalty corners, it felt time for a cheeky corner routine. Alex Stamp sneaked left and slotted what we thought was the third goal, confirming his top scorer status. Oh, wait—goal denied!
SVHC continued to attack into BBHC's defence with Stampy finally netted his top goal status.
Stanners and Henners joined in the fun, leaving BBHC players looking defeated. To finish the first half, Henry Robinson danced through from the halfway line into the D with Dickie Turnill. SVHC led 7-1 at halftime, with further efforts defected by the BBHC goalkeeper's valiant efforts.
We approached the second half with a hunger for spectacular goals. Charlie H had another fantastic cameo, providing shots across goal. Tom Millington executing a textbook cut into the net. After Tom's goal by the end of the game—a thoroughly deserved man of the match.
With Stampy sealing the deal with another goal, the match concluding in a 9-1 win.
As the season concludes, we celebrate back-to-back promotions into Division 1—a monumental effort from every player making this season count.
