Amid the fierce winds and relentless rain of Storm Darrah, Sutton Valence 2's welcomed Deal 2's to the mighty Fortress for what proved to be an exhilarating encounter. Sutton Valence again demonstrated their resilience and ability to perform under challenging conditions.

The match started with a surprise as Deal took the lead, scoring from a well-executed short corner against the run of play. However, Sutton Valence quickly responded, refusing to let their heads drop. Midfielder DT equalized for Sutton Valence with a firmly struck goal from a Chris Stille pullback, bringing the game back to level terms.

As the first half progressed, neither side could find the breakthrough, and the teams went into the break with the score locked at 1-1.

A quick half-time interval was agreed upon by both teams, as the conditions were taking their toll on the players, with neither side wanting to waste the little body heat they had managed to accumulate in the first half.

The second half saw Sutton Valence find their rhythm and start to stretch their legs. Brilliant passing moves allowed Alex Hodges to put Sutton Valence ahead, scoring a well-timed goal.

Shortly after, Duncan Wills found space in the D to collect a through ball from the frozen hands of Adrian and, with great composure, slotted the ball home to seal the victory for Sutton Valence at 3-1.

It was an excellent team performance under horrific conditions, with Sutton Valence showing their character and determination. They head into the Christmas break with renewed confidence, leaving behind the frustrations of the previous week's dire performance. Now time for some well-earned SBC, mince pies, and Goachers before the second half of the season kicks off in the New Year.

Sutton Valence look forward to picking up where they left off when they return to action in 2024.
